Introduction to Temporistics

What is it, the overview of aspects and types.

1. What is Temporistics?

Temporistics is a theory made by Alexander Latyshev and Veronica Shelman about the relationships between individuals and time: the Present, the Future, the Past, and Eternity. Each person understands time in their own way and builds relationships with their past, future, present, and even eternity differently. There are 24 types in total. Each type has its strengths and weaknesses, unique characteristics, perspectives on life, values, and typical mistakes in behavior.

Importantly, Temporistics is also a practical philosophy aimed at helping others find answers to questions such as "Who am I?", "Where is my place in the world?", "Where should I go?", and "What is the meaning of life?"

Temporistics is both a psychological typology and a practical philosophy. As a psychological typology, it illuminates the relationships between individuals and time, categorizing people into groups based on their perception of the Past, Present, Future, and Eternity. As a practical philosophy, it can help individuals become aware of their own values, unique worldview, and spiritual quest. It aids in understanding the steps one can take to develop their personality.

2. The Past, the Present, the Future, and Eternity

Brief overview:

The Past answers the question 'Who am I?'. Events, experiences, causality, history, and traditions are associated with this aspect.

The Present answers the question 'Where is my place?'. Short-term events, the sense of involvement in the present, and even the perception of reality are associated with this aspect.

The Future answers the question 'Where am I going?'. Goal setting, strategic thinking, planning, envisioning oneself and one's possibilities in the future are associated with this aspect.

The Eternity answers the question 'Why am I?'. Meaning, significance, a generalized vision of the present, past, and future are associated with this aspect. The most straightforward and accurate description of viewing eternity is an abstract perspective, a view of one's life from a distance.

3. Introduction to Types

The four aspects of time perception are key concepts in temporistics. The typology of temporistics is built on the assumption that in the subconscious of every individual, there exists a system of priorities, according to which more energy is allocated to the perception of some aspects than to others. The aspects can be ranked from strong to weak, with any combinations possible, for example:

Future ► Present ► Eternity ► Past
Present ► Future ► Past ► Eternity
Eternity ► Past ► Future ► Present

In this way, there are 24 different variations of priorities, or 24 temporistic types.

Temporistics asserts that the priority system in each person is innate (or acquired at an early age) and stable, meaning it does not change throughout one's life. Thanks to this, the typing of an individual becomes the key to understanding their fundamental values, strengths and weaknesses, and other behavioral and cognitive traits. It can be said that Temporistics is a typology of values, or more precisely, a typology of worldview.
