S = Steadiness
S (Steadiness) styles are primarily motivated by cooperation, opportunities to help, and sincere appreciation. They prioritize giving support, collaboration, and maintaining stability. They are often considered/described as calm, patient, consistent, deliberate, stable and predictable.
S styles mostly seek to cultivate harmony and stability, they mainly strive for team accomplishments and find group acceptance. They seek to maintain status quo and control of the environment. It is also one of their goals to achieve power through formal roles and positions of authority.
Things that S styles mostly need to improve are; Being able to adapt in their environment quickly, multitasking, promoting themselves, confronting others, overcoming indecisiveness, and resist over-accommodation. They experience challenges in these aspects as they mostly put emphasis on calmness, predictability, modesty and hate being rushed.
In Leadership positions, S styles are primarily natural collaborators who like to reach the consensus and build win-win situations. However they could sometimes be passive and overly-trusting, letting others take advantage of their support and patience. In leadership positions, they are described as Inclusive, Humble and Affirming
- Fears: change, loss of stability, offending others, letting people down
- Values: loyalty, helping others, security
- Overuses: modesty, passive resistance, compromise
- Influences others by: accommodation, consistent performance
- In conflict: listens to others’ perspectives; keeps their own needs to themselves
- Could improve effectiveness through: displaying more self-confidence, revealing their true feelings
Main Traits: Calm, Cooperative, Patient, Stable, Predicable, Supportive, Loyal
